Study Support
In addition to their chosen subjects, all learners undertake weekly Study Skills sessions in form time.
The purpose of these sessions is to help learners to make the challenging transition to studying at this advanced level and to aid them in their independent research.
Our Study Skills programme is designed to coincide with the changing demands of the academic year in order to introduce and equip students with any new skills required in order to succeed as they proceed through their courses.
Further additional one-to-one support is also offered to all students according to their personal needs.
Students will also be referred to Mr Aster by teaching staff if they feel the student requires additional support outside of the classroom.
The programme includes:-
- Introduction to academic writing.
- Independent study and research methods.
- Organisation and time-management.
- Effective revision strategies.
- Exam preparation and dealing with exam stress
Throughout the year both Y12 and Y13 students will have opportunities made available to them to enhance their academic and personal skill sets.
HOME LEARNING:
We know that setting up routines at home can be hard to do. Therefore we’ve put some advice together on how to work effectively from home. Regardless of being Y12 or Y13 you all need to be continuing with your sixth form studies and ensuring that each week day you are planning out your time and achieving something productive.
Any student requiring any additional help or support should seek advice from Mr Aster (in the study area), their Form Tutor or Head of Sixth Form, Mr Phipps.
