Welcome to Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form. We're so glad you've visited our website to find out more about us!
At Cardinal Heenan student progression is at the heart of what we do. We pride ourselves on ensuring that each student has a personalised learning experience which enhances their academic outcomes.
We are passionate about helping our students reach their aspirational next steps. Whether they wish to go on to study at University, take up an apprenticeship, or make their first steps into employment, we aim to provide the support and guidance to ensure our students excel. We have a strong focus on future careers and have built a fantastic super-curricular programme that allows our students to access opportunities in their chosen pathways.
Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Tuesday 22nd October 2024. Prospective students that attend will have the fantastic opportunity to explore the facilities and speak to our staff and current students about everything that Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form has to offer.
Applications for Sixth Form will open each year at our sixth form open evening. You can apply by attending the open evening or directly through the Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form website. We look forward to hearing what subjects you're interested in studying with us and what your aspirations are for the future!
In January, we invite all Sixth Form applicants to an informal interview so that we can get to know you and your subject choices. Here you will be made a conditional offer to join our Sixth Form.
We want everyone to feel welcome in our Cardinal Heenan community, including those who might wish to join us from other schools. This is an opportunity for new external students to meet with the Sixth Form team and other new students independently ahead of the Bridging Days. This is also a great opportunity for prospective students to visit the school if they were unable to attend our open evening.
The Sixth Form Bridging Days are an exciting opportunity to experience learning at Cardinal Heenan before you join us in September. Applicants can experience a week of subject taster lessons and extracurricular activities. Along with the chance to meet the rest of their year group and teachers. The Bridging Days takes place each year in July after GCSE exams have finished.
All applicants will officially enrol on GCSE results day. Internal applicants will meet with staff after receiving their results to confirm their subjects. We ask that external applicants also visit us after collecting their results from their current school, to confirm their subjects and collect their enrolment pack.
I have massively benefited from the support of my teachers during my time in lower school and even in the short three weeks I've been a part of the Sixth Form, My love of Music and Drama means I spend a lot of time in the Performing Arts Department and there are lots of opportunities to get involved in. I would definitely recommend Cardinal Heenan to others.
I thought my transition into Sixth Form would be hard but as soon as I stepped through the door on my first day, I was welcomed into the Cardinal Heenan family. I've had a positive experience getting to know my teachers and also my classmates. I'm very excited to see what the future has in store for me at Cardinal Heenan.
Attending Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form has made me realise that I can achieve all of my goals and aspirations. I have received endless support from the sixth form team and have been guided through each step of my education.
Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form has been fundamental in shaping my character, developing my confidence, and preparing me for the future. I will be going on to study Law at the University of Oxford and am so grateful for the support I received from Cardinal Heenan in helping me achieve this.
Cardinal Heenan has helped me every step of the way whilst working towards my A-levels and achieving my aspirations. The Sixth Form Team have provided me with outstanding support and guidance in my chosen career path.
At Cardinal Heenan Sixth Form we're proud of our alumni students and the incredible things they go on to achieve. We feel very fortunate to have been a part of their journey in helping them achieve their aspirational next steps. We have nurtured future doctors, lawyers, athletes and musicians to name but a few. Our door is always open to past pupils, and we love to hear where their journey has taken them after they leave us.
