Curriculum for Life
‘Today’s children and young people are growing up in an increasingly complex world and living their lives seamlessly on and offline. This presents many positive and exciting opportunities, but also challenges and risks. In this environment, children and young people need to know how to be safe and healthy, and how to manage their academic, personal and social lives in a positive way’.
Secretary of State Foreword, 2020
Our ‘Curriculum for Life’ (PSHE/RSE/Citizenship) programme of study runs as a 7-year progressive, thematic curriculum making it possible for our learners to build upon their knowledge, skills and understanding in an age appropriate manner, year-on-year.
There is almost limitless content that could be included in a 'Curriculum for Life' making the task of selection based on the context and culture of our students carefully thought out; ensuring it is methodical and making the experience of this curriculum profound.
Our Curriculum for Life goes beyond delivering the statutory requirements. It is tailored to shape the whole person through progressive thematic sessions twice fortnightly and weekly form-time forum opportunities, through a British Values and personal development lens. Our Curriculum for Life lessons are also designed in light of the Gospel Values and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
July 2021 marked the first year of our Enrichment and Well-being Festival which will continue annually and aims to further our student’s personal development and celebrate achievement.
