Drama - Greek Theatre

What should you revise?

For your assessment you will be required to create your own Greek Myth and perform it for your assessment. To prepare for this you will need to:

  • Research Greek Myths and Greek Gods
  • Make sure you understand how to use a Greek Chorus and how staging was used in Greek times
  • Recap how to use explorative strategies.

How you should revise

Music - Music Theory and Listening

What should you revise?

  • The elements of music – tempo, dynamics, melody, structure, texture, pitch
  • Italian terms: Tempo – Largo, Andante, Allegro, Vivace, Rallentando; Dynamics – pianissimo, piano, mezzo piano, forte, fortissimo, crescendo, diminuendo
  • Timbres including instruments of the orchestra and orchestral sections
  • Rhythm – quavers, crotchets, minims, semibreves, rests, dotted notes and time signatures.

Religious Education

What should you revise?

Community, Church (Hierarchy and Features), Baptism, Religious Festivals (Advent, Christmas & Epiphany), Jesus and the parables (project), Mary and Pilgrimage, Islam.

How should you revise?

You will be given a booklet covering all topics.

History - 1066 and William the Conqueror

What should you revise?

  • Who won the Battles of Fulford and Stamford Bridge?
  • The story of the Battle of Hastings including the build up to it and what happens
  • Why William was able to keep control focusing on the Feudal system, the Domesday Book and castles
  • The long term impact William had on England.

How should you revise?

Pupils will be given their exercise books to revise from (the teacher's choice).

IT - Searching the Internet

What should you revise?

For your assessment you must be able to identity different type of sources both primary and secondary. You will then be asked to judge the reliability, validity and bias of this information so should understand what these key words mean.

You will also need to understand what Boolean and other operators are (""/AND+/OR/NOT-) are and how they can be used to help you search the internet more effectively.

Art - Drawing Assessment

What you should revise

The assessment will be a standardised drawing of brushes in a paint pot with cellotape. This will assess: shape, composition form and tone. Students can prepare for this by drawing still life objects which have strong ellipse shapes such as coke cans and tins.

Geography - Coasts

What you should revise

  • Types of coastal erosion
  • Difference between constructive and destructive waves
  • Erosional landforms at the coast and how they form e.g. cave, arch, stack, stump etc
  • The process of transportation e.g. longshore drift
  • Depositional features and how they are created e.g. spits
  • Holderness coast (why is it vulnerable and what have they done to reduce the risk of erosion)
  • Hard and soft engineering strategies e.g. groynes, beach replenishment.

Food Technology - Practical

What should you revise?

For your assessment you will be required to independently create your own fajitas. You will be required to demonstrate the correct and safe procedures when using a gas or electric hob. You will also be assessed on your use of cooking raw meat using the frying method.

How you should revise

You will be given the opportunity to observe a demonstration of the safe procedures that must be followed when using the gas or electric hobs. This will also enable you to observe the correct method that will create successful fajitas.

Conduct some independent research into different ingredients that you could include in your fajitas. Focus on different dressings and vegetables that could be included.

Physical Education

Athletics Assessment

Demonstrate a three phase warm up .Complete two athletics events with good technique . Be able to measure two events on the track and field. Finally analyse their performance highlighting strengths and weaknesses.

Cricket Assessment

Demonstrate a three phase warm up .Play in a small sided game demonstrating bowling , batting and fielding techniques. Knowledge and understanding of the key cricket terms.

Rounders

Demonstrate a three phase warm up. Show a variety of fielding techniques. Show control when striking and fielding. Demonstrate the ability to bowl and be able to catch with one hand and two.

Science
