BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (Mixed Martial Arts)

This 2 year course is suitable for learners who are interested in Boxing, Tai Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts and wish to pursue a career in the sports coaching and health/fitness industry. The course is designed to give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge to prepare you for employment and/or Higher Education.
What will I study and learn?
This course allows the student to explore the vast array of sports disciplines to build a broad base knowledge that shows you how these intricate details combine to produce sporting movement and success. The course is a significant change to GCSE study with theoretical knowledge paramount in the structure of the course. These new and exciting theoretical aspects are studied and learnt in a practical manner, which include finding out the acceleration of your leg when kicking, through to how personality can affect your adherence to exercise.
You will also study the following vocational qualifications:
- Level 2 Gym Instructor
- Amateur Boxing Association (ABA) Boxing Coach
- Level 3 Personal Trainer
How is the course assessed?
We aim to teach all units as interactively & practically as possible with student centred individual & group tasks leading towards the assessments. Assessment methods:
- written work
- practical assessments
As with all BTEC courses there is a heavy workload of assignments & students must have a good level of organisation and are expected to be able to meet deadlines.
On completion of this course opportunities onto higher education courses include: Sports Coaching, Sports Development, Sport and Exercise Science, Teaching, Sports Management, Sports Business, Sports Therapy, Sports Nutrition and Sports Psychology. Or you can go directly into employment in the sports coaching and health/fitness industry.

- Entry Requirement: Students need to have a c in English minimum to progress onto the Extedned Diploma course. Students who do not acheive this may well be offered a Level 2 qulaification in the first year as a bridging course.
