Key Stage 5

Students in years 12 and 13 can choose from a wide range of academic and vocational courses on offer in our sixth form centre.

Most pick three or four AS subjects in their first year and then in the second year generally focus on three at A2 Level.

AS/A2 Levels on offer at Cardinal Heenan include:

Art and design, biology, business studies, chemistry, drama, English language, English literature, further maths, history, ICT (applied), law, maths, music technology, PE, science (applied), psychology, physics, RE and sociology.  We also offer vocational courses in sport studies, fitness instructing and personal training.  Please visit individual subject pages by using the menu, left, to find out more.

GCSE resit opportunities are also offered in English and maths.  This is compulsory where a student has not achieved a grade C previously.

All students are expected to attend five timetabled independent study periods per week.  A programme of enrichment opportunities operates on Wednesday afternoons.
