Heenan Clinch U15 Trophy in Thrilling Hillsborough Clash
Our Year 10 footballers are celebrating cup glory after clinching the ESFA PlayStation Under 15 Schools' Cup for Boys in a thrilling 4-2 win over Kent school St Columba's on Wednesday 30 April.
The final was played in Sheffield and we took an early lead after a fantastic goal by Kevin Cringle in the third minute. Our boys kept up the pressure and goals by Shernick Grove and Stephen Nauby quickly followed making it 3 - 0 before half time!
The second half began with great tempo and the St Columba's boys showed great determination quickly securing their first goal however their dreams of a comeback were dashed by our captain Lewis Riley who caught the perfect flick-on from a Cringle free kick to divert the ball past the goalkeeper and secure the win.
A group of 35 students and staff travelled with the team to Sheffield to show their support for our boys. They provided vital vocal encouragement by vigorously cheering the team on during the match; they also took a quiet moment to pay their respects at the Hillsborough memorial outside the ground adding a scarf to the other tributes on show.
Congratulations boys, we're all very proud of you!
