Sixth Form Team Win U19 Shield

After a very long and frustrating season, with bad weather and injuries taking their toll, our 6th Form football team finished 2012/ 2013 on a high as they beat Maghull High by four goals to three on penalties to claim the Everton U19 Senior Shield on Friday 10 May.

The final was played at Finch Farm, Everton FC's Training Complex, and was due reward for the boys who have shown tremendous attitude and determination to win this prestigious trophy.

A strong wind played its part in a tense but thrilling encounter with both teams hitting the woodwork from set pieces. Cardinal Heenan keeper Tom Anderson made a particularly outstanding save in the first half and the goalless game went into extra time and then penalties.

Tom brilliantly saved two goals during the shootout and Joe Leahy, Liam Parkinson, Joe Lampkin all scored which then led to the final pressure kick which saw Jamie Neild stepping up to chip the ball down the middle to secure the silverware and spark wild celebrations.
