Students Make Magical Music

Our musical students have been busy over the last few weeks getting ready for two spectacular seasonal performances.

The new school choir performed Christmas carols during our annual Advent service at the start of the month. The boys sang beautifully and fantastic solo performances were given by Charlie Jones, Chris Thomas, Sean O'Rourke, Liam Furlong and Daniel Bretherton.

On Wednesday 11 December we held our Christmas Showcase. The event was a great success with lots of new groups performing and the choir sang festive songs including White Christmas and Ho Hey! accompanied by Jake McGinn. The school band performed a variety of numbers including a piece composed by our very own Mr Sanderson!

Our head of music Mrs Mulligan said: "Our GCSE students were fantastic and showed great promise and it was excellent seeing so many year 7s take part in the show. Special thanks to the PTA for opening the bar and to food technology for providing the lovely mince pies and shortbread. Thanks must also go to the media department for filming the event and to all the boys that took part in the showcase, it was a great success!"

The next big date in the department's calendar is the Battle of the Bands which will take place on Wednesday 5 of February, as always amazing prizes will be up for grabs, please register your interest with Mrs Mulligan!  Good luck!
