A round up of 2013 by Martin Grierson from the PTA

"We've had another successful year raising much needed funds to support activities at the school. One of the main highlights for me has been the great live music from The Corollas, The Dawn, Wig Wham Glam and The Pearlies, a band which features one of our parents, we were most appreciative for their fabulous (and free!) appearance. Our popular Sportsmans evenings were a great success and featured appearances by Howard Kendall, Roy Evans, Jimmy Case and David. If you haven't been along to one of these events, don't be put off by it being in a school, our volunteers work hard to transform the space into our very own social club. We're always happy to see old friends but we're looking to attract new supporters and volunteers, if you haven't been to one of our events yet please do give it a try, we always have fun!   If you think you could help please get in touch we're always on the lookout for people to work on the bar or sell raffle tickets."

Bible Quote

“Praise the Lord because he is good.  His faithful love will last forever.”
Psalm 136:1

Word of the Week

Machiavellian (adjective)

Subject which uses this term: English Literature; Drama; History; Politics

Meaning: cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous.

For example: ‘Mrs Lyons is Machiavellian. She manipulates Mrs Johnstone into giving up her baby. She uses Mrs Johnstone’s superstitious nature to ensure she gets what she wants.’

MRS. LYONS: You do know what they say about twins, secretly parted, don’t you?

MRS. JOHNSTONE: What? What?

MRS. LYONS: They say…they say that if either twin learns that he once was a pair, that they shall both immediately die. It means, Mrs. Johnstone, that these brothers shall grow up, unaware of the other’s existence. They shall be raised apart and never, ever told what was once the truth. You won’t tell anyone about this, Mrs. Johnstone, because if you do, you will kill them."
