A group of Year 10 language students recently spent a week in Campus Moragete, an educational camp near Valencia, Spain.
Set in the stunning Hoces del Cabriel national park, the camp specialises in the teaching of languages via innovative methods. As well as participating in interactive language workshops, the students also made films in Spanish, sampled homemade Spanish food every day, made their own pizzas, climbed through the trees in the camp's adventure park and went white-water rafting in the river Cabriel.
The fun-packed trip also included sporting activities in the camp's fresh-water pool and games of an evening. Cardinal Heenan students were joined by students from a local school, giving the boys the opportunity to practice and develop their language skills with locals.
The week ended with an overnight stay in the vibrant city of Valencia. The boys got to spend the afternoon playing football and volleyball on the beach before visiting the impressive City of Science and Art and doing some last-minute souvenir shopping and sightseeing.
They even found time to tour Valencia FC's stadium and see the home team training with the Spanish press ahead of a match.
Mr Bower said: "The trip was an incredible success and gave students the opportunity to embrace a different way of life and experience Spanish culture first hand. As well as developing their language skills, the boys met some amazing people and have made lasting friendships with their Spanish peers."
The feedback from students since returning has been very positive with some participants declaring it the "best holiday I've ever had," and another saying "the trip has given me a different outlook on life."
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
