Russell Group Success

The Russell Group universities are research intensive institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Manchester University, Liverpool University, etc. These type of universities, and the degree programmes they offer, can lead to greater job prospects in fields such as medicine, engineering and law. In 2012, 13% of Year 13 leavers successfully applied for a Russell Group universities.

We continue to work closely with the team from Oxbridge and other local schools to support our students in applying to Oxford and Cambridge. We also have a strong partnership with the Realising Opportunities team at Liverpool University which supports high achievers who may not normally aspire to access the more traditional 'red brick' universities.

As a result of the hard work of students and staff, we are extremely proud to announce that in the summer of 2015 49% of our Year 13 leavers were successful in applying to Russell Group universities, including Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Liverpool.

Well done to everyone.
