Year 12 Students Train at The Martial Arts Studio
A group of Year 12 Fitness Instructor students were put through their paces in a recent strength and conditioning workshop at The Martial Arts Studio.
Tutor Andrew Allen said "As a fitness instructor you may be asked to write gym programmes for very fit individuals. I think it is important that our students' experience working and training in high performance environments. These sorts of regular off-site trips, to venues like The Martial Arts Studio, are fundamental to helping the students become better coaches."
The students practised their lifting technique with Olympic standard weights and had to deliver coaching sessions on dead lifts, high pulls and squats. To finish the day, Daniel Stoddart led a boxing workshop, teaching boxing drills to small groups of students and finished off with "touch sparring" in the ring.
