Team Effort Wins Rugby Tournament

Our Year 9 rugby team has won the Merseyside Emerging Schools tournament today, thanks to a fantastic defensive performance and team effort.

The tournament, at Liverpool St Helens RUFC, saw Cardinal Heenan beat schools from Liverpool, Southport, Wirral and St Helens - including a first-ever victory over Cowley Technical College, a St Helens school renowned for its long rugby union tradition.

  • 15-0 v Christ the King
  • 10-0 v Cowley
  • 10-5 v Rainford High
  • 5-0 v Hilbre High

Mr Townson congratulated the boys on a great team effort. He said: "We were unbeaten in five matches and only conceded one try in the whole tournament. It was a truly fantastic performance from the whole team."
