A-Level Stars Reach for the Skies

Cardinal Heenan's sixth formers were delighted as they received their A-level results this morning.

Confirmed places at their first-choice universities and higher apprenticeship courses were the reward for their dedication to their studies.

Our students can now look forward to heading off around the country to continue their education, and next month will be starting their degree courses at universities including Cardiff, Loughborough and Liverpool.

Mr Phipps was delighted with the results and said: "Congratulations to our A2 students, who have performed extremely well after two years' hard work. They are now realising their dreams to access Russell Group universities and higher apprenticeship courses."

Some of our star performers included Ambar Villanueva-Brackley, who achieved an A* in art, and Bs in philosophy and ethics, and psychology, Daniel Ashton who got an A in maths and Bs in chemistry and physics, and Paul Lang who achieved an A* in PE and 2 As in biology and history.

Mr Phipps added: "We are very proud of all of our students and what they have achieved and wish them the very best of luck for the future."

Bible Quote

“Praise the Lord because he is good.  His faithful love will last forever.”
Psalm 136:1

Word of the Week

Machiavellian (adjective)

Subject which uses this term: English Literature; Drama; History; Politics

Meaning: cunning, scheming, and unscrupulous.

For example: ‘Mrs Lyons is Machiavellian. She manipulates Mrs Johnstone into giving up her baby. She uses Mrs Johnstone’s superstitious nature to ensure she gets what she wants.’

MRS. LYONS: You do know what they say about twins, secretly parted, don’t you?

MRS. LYONS: They say…they say that if either twin learns that he once was a pair, that they shall both immediately die. It means, Mrs. Johnstone, that these brothers shall grow up, unaware of the other’s existence. They shall be raised apart and never, ever told what was once the truth. You won’t tell anyone about this, Mrs. Johnstone, because if you do, you will kill them."

Thought for the Week

"Don't be afraid! I am here with good news for you, which will bring great joy to all the people."
