Our maths department deploys a range of practical tools and tactics to help bring learning to life via the use of interactive whiteboards, tarsia jigsaws, integral maths interactive websites, group work, peer assessments and competitions. When studying mathematics our students develop their problem solving and analytical skills.
A solid understanding of mathematics is highly regarded by universities and employers alike.
Key Stage 3
Students follow the national curriculum.
Key Stage 4
Pupils will follow the Edexcel linear route and sit a calculator and non-calculator exam at the end of their three-year course. The exams will cover a range of mathematical disciplines including algebra, geometry, measurement and data handling which counts for 100% of the final mark.
Key Stage 5
We offer AS/A2 Levels in maths and further maths to our sixth formers. Our maths course develops students’ analytical and problem solving skills, they will also learn how to handle data effectively. Assessment is via examinations only.
Further maths is best studied alongside maths and is suitable for students with a deep understanding of numbers who may be considering a career in this field. Assessment is via examination.
